About

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetFronted by 17 year-old ZoeJoey, Vivid Shade is an emerging independent band, coming up in the Singapore scene. The genre defying duo independently write, record, and produce their music in their small home studio. Vivid Shade has released their first 2 singles in the beginning of 2019 and they immediately showed the world that they are not afraid to experiment with different styles of music. Their second single I’ll Do It quickly gained the attention of music bloggers, and received several positive reviews. Bandwagon, Singapore’s largest music site, wrote in their review for I’ll Do It that “her music brings forth something new, something that has hardly been heard” and claimed “Vivid Shade is the future.” The music blog, The Band Camp Diaries, called I’ll Do It “a groundbreaking mix of different styles.” Fans and blogs have compared Vivid Shade’s style to Grimes, The Prodigy, Portishead, and Bjork.

Vivid Shade continued to further explore this darker, electronic based direction and in the spring of 2019 started to work on their debut EP, filled will synth drenched dark pop songs that are heavily influenced by synthwave, EDM, trap, and 90s industrial music.

The EP, titled Clickbait, is a concept EP that explores the effects of social media and technology on society, and what the future holds for us. It depicts a futuristic dystopia that takes the listener through a journey of multiple perspectives.

Vivid Shade released Goodbye, World! as their first single from their Clickbait EP, which received comparisons to Nine Inch Nails mixed with Billie Eilish. This release combined with their previous releases gained Vivid Shade broader attention in the local Singaporean music scene. They were listed by Bandwagon in their “Youth of the Nation: Eight musicians aged 18 and below you need to know” article, and performed at the TONES 2019 music festival where they premiered their darker and more visual stage show to much praise.

Clickbait was released on Dec 26th 2020.
